Meet Koos Jérard Louw, "PSOW Walk of Fame" STAR
In honor of National Business Etiquette Week (NBEW) June 3-9, 2018, we wanted to take this opportunity to provide a better understanding of our graduates and the amazing things they are doing! Koos Jérard Louw is a 2015 graduate of PSOW, Here's what he shared with us!
How do you utilize your PSOW training? I have started a successful training institute – T.S.P.I. [The Service Protocol Institute], and in addition I have trademarked “S.Q.” [Social Intelligence] and “B.Q.” [Business Intelligence] which I use with my corporate and schools clients. I’m in my 3rd year of being a contracted last-page columnist for an upscale magazine. My column is “Social Intelligence” where I cover topics from Napkin Savvy, Social Bullying to Etiquette in the Air.
What topics do you teach the most (or favorite topics to teach)? Business and Social Etiquette as a Critical Skill-set for Business and Social Success. There’s nothing “soft” about these skills! Secondly, I love teaching Dining and Social-event Etiquette; this course remains very popular amongst my clients.
How has PSOW had an impact on your life/career? PSOW has had – and continues to have - a significant impact in both my life and my career. After graduating from PSOW I found my Life-purpose: Empowering and motivating people through sharing my knowledge and experience. I never knew it was so easy – and fun - to stand in front of a group of people and teach for 8-9 hours without missing a beat!
What advice would you give to those who are considering attending a course at PSOW? Don’t think twice about it; Enroll immediately…It will change your life as it has mine!
First job(s)? After University I started working for an Advertising Firm – and after 5 years at the firm, I became the Client Service Director. Without realizing it at the time – this was the basis for what I am doing today! Then I continued to launch a Publicity Firm with my launch client being my first employer [the ad agency], followed by Ms Universe – Michelle McClean who joined our client list shortly after that. The firm evolved and two years later, I took on a partner and we built the firm into a Group of Companies. This group consisted of five distinct brands namely; A CRM [Customer Relationship Management] company with a Concierge division for HNWI [High Net Worth Individuals], a Travel Agency to support the Concierge operations, an Incentive & Events company and a Below-the-line Creative Agency. We were privileged to have represented clients such as MasterCard International, Rolls Royce, Dom Pérignon, Louis Vuitton, Diners Club International, Reebok, American Express, Jaguar Land Rover, Volvo and many more leading South African blue-chip brands. Five years ago I sold my shares in this group and after half-a-year of twiddling my thumps, I decided on the PSOW course, and Voilà…!
Favorite book, movie or TV show? Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follet + The Millenium Trilogy by Stieg Larson. Entourage + The Crown.
Guilty Pleasure? Escaping to our shabby-chic weekend bushveld home and sitting under the African stars next to a roaring fire with a good single malt whiskey and the cry of jackals in the distance…with no cable and very little mobile reception…absolute bliss!
If there’s one thing we should know about you, it is… I day-dream about being a guest-teacher/lecturer for PSOW in DC and around the world…and publishing an off-the-wall book on Etiquette; something along the lines of… “Kick-ass in Business using your Etiquette Skills…”
