What was your biggest take-away?

Meet Jan Goss-Gibson - Graduation Date: April 2007 Why did you initially come to PSOW? I wanted the highest training available in our country to launch me into a new career. My father was a Colonel in the Army. I was raised with many protocols. I was born in Germany, my brother in Japan. We moved 21 times in my first 18 years of life. PSOW was the perfect fit for me because I wanted the best and was unwilling to settle for anything less. I knew I was a gifted speaker and I knew my “voice” was somewhere within the realm of the training from PSOW. PSOW gave me the tools to create my dream career.

What was your biggest take-away? I would have to say that the biggest take-away was this: Etiquette and Protocol are not so much about rules. The “why” behind the behavior is about respect … respect for yourself and others. It is honoring the dignity of the human spirit in us all and expressing it with action.

Are you consulting full-time, part-time, or within your company/organization? Full time. My business is called Civility Consulting.

What does your typical day look like now? I am either speaking, training, consulting or preparing to do so! I am so happy. I love my life. I smile a lot. That is what my day looks like… a BIG smile!

What is the best part of having your own business/consultancy? I get to design my life and make a prosperous living by helping people feel more confident and connect on a higher level.

How long did it take for you to get your business “off the ground?” Almost five years… but I am a little slow! … and my life fell apart during that season. I have completely re-invented myself!

What was the scariest part of starting your own business? I don’t think starting it was scary to me. My enthusiasm carried me. Sustaining it was the most fearful until I hired the right business coach. Now I assist other entrepreneurs who are starting their own businesses! It is very humbling and rewarding.

How long have you been in business? 7 years.

What are your favorite things to teach?

1. How to Connect With Confidence

2. First Impression Management

3. Stepping into Your Power With Confidence

Where do you see yourself in 5 years? Happy! In 5 years I will be doing the same thing I am right now. I will have very specific corporate clients that I love working with who pay me handsomely for my expertise. I will also work individually with high performing individuals who want to stay polished up and continue to raise their confidence level. I will also continue to speak on a National level (Perhaps International???). The difference is that I will be utilizing new technologies to reach more people more effectively. I will help more people.

What advice would you give to those who are considering taking the Train to be a Corporate Etiquette and International Protocol Consultant course? Do it! Regardless of your path in business, the information will elevate your thinking and catapult you forward irrespective of your career choice.
