Thanksgiving 2021: Simple Ways to Show Appreciation
For many of us, Thanksgiving 2021 is the first time we will be together with our friends and family since the COVID-19 pandemic began. Here are some simple things we can all do to show our appreciation for the special people in our life.
Tell someone how much you appreciate them in a handwritten note or letter. It’s so easy and meaningful to write out your appreciation for a coach, caregiver, mentor, colleague, or someone in your family who has helped you in life. And always remember to take a moment to thank the host of your Thanksgiving celebration with a handwritten note.
Volunteering. We all know someone who may be spending the holidays alone or someone who may need a visit to brighten their day, so invite them in for a meal or visit them and spend some quality time to show you care.
Make a donation of your resources or your time. We all know there are many worthy organizations out there that need help this time of year, from Make-A-Wish to Meals on Wheels. These nonprofits do so much good in the world and we can let them know how much we appreciate them by making a year-end donation from yourself or in honor of a loved one. If finances are tight, you can also donate your time to help the organization of your choice.
Pay it forward. Paying for the person behind you in the coffee shop, grocery store, or drive-through window is a simple way to show kindness to a complete stranger. It’s a lot of fun to give without expecting anything in return.
And finally, consider giving a compliment to someone on a talent, skill, or strength that you admire. It’s one of the easiest ways to give back and make someone’s day.
