How do you utilize your PSOW training?
I'm the founder and CEO of Spencer Crane Etiquette, a business etiquette consultancy that I established in 2011. I work mainly with emerging and transitioning professionals. In 2018, I published my first book, “Modern Business Etiquette for Young & Fabulous Professionals,” which BookAuthority.org named as one of the best new etiquette books to read in 2019. Although my primary client base is in Atlanta and Los Angeles, I've recently begun branching out to other regions in the USA. I also use my training to give back to the under-served through various volunteer opportunities.
What topics do you teach the most (or favorite topics to teach)?
I enjoy teaching all of the topics that I offer, among them networking skills, dress to impress, business dining, office etiquette, authenticity at work, accountability at work, and personal brand management. However, what I love most about what I do is witnessing that aha moment when a young client realizes the valuable role these skills can play in boosting her confidence and career.
How has PSOW had an impact on your life/career?
My PSOW background lends me instant credibility because PSOW is recognized as the gold standard for etiquette professionals. My training also gives me confidence that the information I'm sharing with my clients is sound. In my personal life, I've been surprised that my training can make others feel intimidated or judged. So I make an extra effort to make sure everyone is comfortable. Etiquette ladies like to have fun too!
What advice would you give to those who are considering attending a course at PSOW?
Dive in! You will learn a lot, and you will make new friends. The PSOW experience can help you become a better trainer and a more thoughtful person.
Is there a song in which its lyrics resonates with you?
I love the optimism and celebration of life in the lyrics from "Here's to Life," a song by the late Shirley Horn, a famous American jazz pianist and singer. "So here's to life, and every joy it brings, here's to life, for dreamers and their dreams. May all your storms be weathered, and all that's good get better. Here's to life, here's to love, here's to you."
Who is your favorite musical artist? And why?
I can’t say that I have just one favorite musical artist, but Beyoncé stands out to me. She demonstrates through her art, activism, and feminism that life is complicated, and people are multi-dimensional, and that's okay. She, (like another woman I admire, Michelle Obama), shows that success isn't about projecting perfection, it's in allowing yourself the freedom to discover who you are, to try new things and ideas, and to give yourself the space to grow.
If there’s one thing we should know about you, it is…
I had an eclectic childhood. I grew up surrounded by many different types of people from all walks of life. The best part? The delicious food! On any given day, I could dine on sushi, tacos, barbecue, a tofu burger, bibimbap, bean pie, or my mother's gumbo.
