Meet Kelly Goering, "PSOW Walk of Fame" STAR
In honor of National Business Etiquette Week (NBEW) June 3-9, 2018, we wanted to take this opportunity to provide a better understanding of our graduates and the amazing things they are doing! Kelly Goering is a 2016 graduate of PSOW, Here's what she shared with us!
How do you utilize your PSOW training? I utilize the training everyday. I was exposed to the proper ways of using etiquette, protocol and how to ebb and flow in the business world. I have had the opportunity to work with all types of businesses - Military, International and Global teams, and local small businesses.
What topics do you teach the most (or favorite topics to teach)? I love helping individuals and teams learn the ins and outs of other cultures. Helping people learn the cultures of others and bringing their best self forward to have those innate skills and feel confident in their business or personal meetings.
How has PSOW had an impact on your life/career? It has given me the education and experience from the only nationally accredited etiquette and protocol organization. During an initial customer meeting, my contact told me that she was thrilled I had the PSOW credential and that I attended a highly regarded school. It has also given me the knowledge of looking at other affiliations, like ATD, PDI-POA, etc.
What advice would you give to those who are considering attending a course at PSOW? The experience, the camaraderie and friends cannot compare to any other exposure I have had. The team was very supportive during our training, and continues to offer help, feedback and always answers questions quickly! PSOW is not a one class and done, it is knowing you have learned from the best and provides the confidence in you to really go after what you want with the backup of a whole team! I never felt like I received my training and I had nothing to fall back on. The Alumni Zone, which offers long term support, is a wonderful addition to the training.
First job(s)as a Trainer? "Mind your Manners" a Business Etiquette refresher for NACE (National Association for Catering and Events, Denver Branch). Once I completed my interactive presentation, one of the wait staff members came up to me and said, "that was amazing, I learned something tonight!"
Favorite book, movie or TV show? I am currently reading "When" by Daniel Pink, because timing is everything! Our family is currently binge watching Designated Survivor, since we don't have much downtime with our family schedules we have to do it 'on demand'!
Guilty Pleasure? My morning coffee before anyone gets up. This is my time where I meditate, pray and think about how I am going to approach my day.
If there’s one thing we should know about you, it is… I am currently working as a founding board member for a 501c3 that helps women network (which is a great lesson from my Corporate Etiquette & International Protocol Consultant class) and I have started my own business called Evolving Smart. I hope we continue to improve ourselves and evolve as better people to showcase our etiquette and civility in making the world better.
