3 Ways To Polish Your Professional Etiquette

A recent article by Pamela Eyring, the president and owner of The Protocol School of Washington, was published by the Promotional Products Association International. In it, she breaks down three strategies to help your team practice professional etiquette.

While soft skills might not immediately seem as important as your team’s hard skills, Eyring points out in this article how impactful soft skills like professional etiquette can be for your workplace. It might be simple on its face to “respond with civility” and “demonstrate kindness”, the significance will not be lost on your team.

Don’t overlook the power of small gestures. Actions like looking up from your phone and chatting with a co-worker or letting someone know they did a nice job on a recent presentation can make a world of difference. By getting back to the basics of kindness and respect, you can significantly improve your experience at work.

Even if your employees have substantial work experience at other organizations, you can’t assume they understand professional etiquette, as Eyring breaks down in the article. Soft skills are not innate, but you set the standard as a leader that will instill the values you want to see in the workplace.
